Also joining the team is Kim Gibbons, who serves as associate director for innovation and outreach. Her previous experience as the executive director of the St. Croix River Education District prepared her as a leader for seven rural school districts. Each of the schools she worked with showed that the use of data and evidence increased test scores and overall student achievement.

Christ and the rest of his team at CAREI surveyed more than 800 teachers and educational leaders in Minnesota's school districts. Their finding were published in February, in Minnesota Needs Assessment: Research, Evaluation, Assessment, and Data Use in Schools. CAREI operates as a state resource for educators to access high quality research, evaluation, and assessment services. Future services will include automated data analysis and reporting for educational data in Minnesota.
